RECYCLE YOUR PLASTIC PET FOOD PACKAGING WITH SIMPLYCATS VET CLINIC!

Every year countless pieces of plastic cat food packaging end up in landfill sites across the UK. We want to put an end to this enormous loss of resources.

The SimplyCats Pet Food Recycling Programme allows you to recycle your cat's plastic food packaging and prevent it from ending up in landfill.

Recycle all cat food pouches & flexible plastic bags with SimplyCats Vet Clinic.

How it works:

1. Clean out your used cat food pouches & bags. Please make sure any food has been removed from the packaging, rinse the wet food pouches thoroughly and let them dry before dropping them off with us. Please note that dirty or wet pouches or bags might be refused by our carrier.

2. Drop off your clean cat food pouches & bags at SimplyCats Vet Clinic, 12 Front Street, Fencehouses, Houghton-le-Spring DH4 6LP – our opening hours are 8.30am – 6pm Monday to Friday.

3. Spread the word! Tell your cat owning friends about our scheme and together we can work towards a greener future.

What happens to this waste?

Once collected, we will return the items to Terracycle® where the aggregated plastic pet food packaging is sorted, shredded and washed. The material is then densified into hard-granulated plastic granules. The granules are then extruded so they can be incorporated into the production of different plastic products such as fence posts and benches.

Accepted waste:

• All wet pet food pouches

• All pet treat flexible plastic packaging and pouches

• All dry pet food flexible plastic packaging.

Waste that is NOT accepted:

• Cans

• Cardboard packaging

• Paper packaging

• Hard plastic packaging

• Plastic bottles.

Most of the items listed above can be recycled by most of the household recycling centres.
